MY TIPS ABOUT JORDAN
- Despite being a Middle Eastern country, Jordan is not cheap. JD is stronger than euro or dollar.
- Jordan is a country based on tourism. Despite buying a single-entry visa, you can buy online the Jordan Pass which consists of a ticket including the visa and the entrance to main tourist sites (i.e. Petra, Jerash, museums and castles all over the country). Only few things are not included, like the St. George church in Madaba where you can see the first map-mosaic of the area around Jordan river. The overall cost of Jordan Pass is like the cost of the visa + 1 day in Petra, so it’s worth buying it if you want to visit more places!
- Jordan is a small country that can be visited in 10 days with a good planning. It is also the most stable and safe in the Middle East.
- If you want to go off the main tourist path when in Petra, you can take the 2 days entry in the Jordan Pass. The first day would be for the main touristic and crowded places (Treasury, Monastery), on the second day you can take alternative paths. Don’t trust people willing to sell you a horse or donkey ride that it’s impossible to find your way, if you and it’s not so difficult.
- Some people still live in the caves in Petra, mainly those who sell souvenirs to tourists.
- Aqaba, where the low-cost airport on the Red Sea is located, it's a great place for scuba diving! This is like the last useful of My Tips - Jordan.
